How To Evolve Tandemaus Into Maushold In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Tandemaus is quite the character in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.

It isn’t the most popular nor is it the most striking to look at, but its potential might is considerable. The problem is, it’s rarely seen out in the wild.

This begs the question: how do you get one? Funnily enough, we’ve created a how to get Tandemus guide for this exact moment. Still, while Tandemaus can be elusive, its evolution is even more enigmatic.

I wouldn’t say it’s the trickiest evolution to trigger, but if you don’t know exactly what Tandemaus requires you’re going to fail. But there’s no need to panic because I know exactly what to do.

How To Evolve Tandemaus In Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

To evolve Tandemaus into Maushold you need to reach level 25 then have it in your party during a battle. However, auto-battles don’t count.

Unlike what some guides have said, Tandemaus doesn’t need to inflict damage to evolve, nor does it need to be your Lead Pokemon. As long as it’s part of your team while you battle it will evolve.

In case you’re not sure what auto-battles are, this is a new feature in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet that allows you to send your Lead Pokemon out in the wild on its own. This is great for collecting items, and for them to enjoy some solo battles without your input.

However, for the likes of Tandemaus, only the original Pokemon battle style will suffice.

Another unusual feature of Tandemaus’ evolution is there’s no evolution cutscene. I entered battle with Tandemaus and left with a Maushold.

I’m not sure if this is because it wasn’t my Lead Pokemon, or if its simply the evolution mechanic for this Pokemon. Whatever the reason, its evolution is subtle.

It’s also worth mentioning that Scarlet & Violet have version exclusive sprites for Maushold: in Pokemon Scarlet Maushold has two baby mice, while in Pokemon Violet it only has one.

The only other way to get Maushold is to find one during a Tera Raid, which is easier said than done. As you can see from the Pokedex, its location is unknown. Best to stick with evolving Tandemaus instead.

And that’s all there is to it! I really hope this short but sweet how to evolve Tandemus into Maushold article has helped.

And if you need further assistance, perhaps in the style depart, you might want to try the where to buy and change outfits guide. Oh, and don’t forget to keep track of mystery gift codes in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet for some nice exclusives!
